Think about a time when someone challenged your opinion or told you that you were wrong. What was the disagreement about, and how did you defend yourself? Did you change their mind, or did they change yours?

Prompt Response: A time when someone challenged my opinion and told me I was wrong was when I argued with my mom about getting my nails done. I had never had them done, but I knew that it takes a long time, especially if it's two people. She argued about how my sister and I took too long and knew we had school the next day. In her defense, she was right because it was a school night, but I had told her before hand that we were going to take long. I stated that the girl was a beginner and was barely getting back to doing nails, and doing two clients at once was a lot of work and pressure. I'm aware that nail techs take at least 2 hours so I did not rush her. My mom didn't seemed convinced, but I told her that since it was two of us, it took almost 4 hours straight. In the end, I convinced her that it was not my fault, but she did tell me to book in the morning instead of at night, specifically a school night. Have you ever worried about what others think of you? How did it affect your actions or decisions? Share a personal experience and use hypophora at least once in your response.

Prompt Response: I have always worried about what others think of me. I think about it often and wonder what image do people have of me and what makes them think about me in that way.It affects my actions because I'm afraid I will do something that proves there point. I try to be careful about who I talk to and what I say because sometimes people can misinterpret and spread rumors. A personal experience would be when I made a friend with someone who was a quiet person, but in the end, everyone dropped me. Why did they do that? Because everyone was oblivious and took his side instead of listening to mine.  Summary: We read about new words and analyzed how they work. Reflection: I used many new rhetorical devices and also struggled to use some. I know I will struggle, but I will try my best to improve using them.

Consider the following statement: "We spend more time connecting online but less time connecting in person." Do you agree or disagree with this antithesis? Explain your perspective using personal experiences. Discuss how technology has influenced the way people communicate and build relationships. In your response, include at least one original example of antithesis.

Prompt Response: I agree with this antithesis because in this generation, you mostly see people connecting online and notices less interactions in person. Almost everywhere you go, you would likely see people texting on there phone or anything like that. I've noticed that because of this, people tend to have social anxiety and struggle to communicate with others because of the fear that they would be judged. Because of this, they struggle to create relationships with others or presenting to people in there age group. From my experience, I struggle a bit as well but push it aside and try because it'll benefit me in the long run. Because even though our life is limited, time is endless. Summary: We analyzed a few more rhetorical devices and did some exercises to gain a better understanding of their usage. Reflection: I learned many new rhetorical devices and learned how to use them. I also learned how important they are and how they can have an impact of your essay.

Think about a time when you exaggerated something to make a point, tell a story, or get someone's attention. What happened? What did you say? Why did you exaggerate? Looking back, do you think your exaggeration made your message more effective?

Prompt Response: A time when I was trying to make a point to get someone's attention was when I was talking with my friend about how there was no way he had never been to some stores that are located in almost every state. What I said was "It's something you wouldn't understand because it's easy for you to get money and buy branded clothes while it would take me a million years to be like you, it's not like money grows on trees for me like how it does for you." It's obvious money doesn't grow on trees, but I was trying to get my point across that it is not easy for me to make money and spend it like it's not hard to gain back. I exaggerated  because I was trying to tell him that many of us don't have many jobs or opportunities to make money easily, it's hard when your parents get money from the state and if you work, they stop giving the money to them. Looking back, I think exaggerating made my point somewhat effective because it looked...

After reviewing the feedback on your argument essay, identify one thing you did well and one area you need to improve. Explain what you will do differently the next time you write an AP Lang argument essay.

Prompt Response: One thing I did well on my argument essay was creating my thesis. I was able to provide a clear and defencible position about how documenting life through selfies shouldn't be necessary. Although I tend to struggle with creating my thesis, I was able to do well and recieve the point for this. One area where I need to improve is getting the sophistication point. I noticed how I wasn't able to distinguish taking a selfie and photo and confused them as the same thing when they are not. I need to improve making my argument more complex and not vague. Although I didn't get the sophistication point, I was able to get a good grade which I am satisfied with and hope it helps me improve. Somehing I will do differently next time is not include information that is too vague and reread my essay to make sure I get the sophistication point. Summary: We reviewed our essay scores and analyzed the feedback and what we missed and also started writing a poem about something t...

Write about a conversation that changed you.

Prompt Response: A conversation that changed me was about how it made me realize not everything has to be done at its perfection and that sometimes it is okay to make mistakes. I had always tried to be a perfect student by getting good grades, completing all the work and even doing the extra credit assignments. I used to have all A's until 8th grade. My mom has always expected good from me, she never worried about my grades being bad or confronting me about recieving a message from my teachers. I remember when I would get a 90 I would talk down on myself and even feel like I've failed my mother. When I had a talk with a certain person, I realized I didn't have to be so harsh on myself and make it seem like I depend on my grades and a number to define who I am. Sometimes, I still feel horrible when recieving an 85-90 but then I remember that people have it worse than me and maybe I just wasn't giving it my all or was feeling well during that time.  Summary: We completed ...

Talk about a time when you had to write a poem, whether it was for an assignment, event, or special occasion. What was the writing process like for you, and were you proud of the finished product?

Prompt Response: I remember last year during my accelerated class I had to write a poem about something I felt was important to me and represented a part of me. The writing process for me was a bit difficult, not becuase I did not know what to write about, but because I did not know how to make it make sense.  I had to write down some ideas of what I wanted to include and see what words went well with other lines. What I wrote about was my necklace and how if I didn't have it with me, I 'd feel like a part of me was missing and I would just feel anxious. I also involved my emotions in the poem, including that having my necklace made me feel safe because my mom gifted it to me and because to me, it meant that she was always with me wherever I went. Honestly, I did struggle coming up with many lines, but I was proud of what I wrote and how it described me in just a few stanzas.  Summary: We started reading and analyzing a poem as well as annotated what each line could mean.
